Preparing your child for Preschool |
|
Introduction
The start of preschool can be a scary and an exciting event for you and your child as well. Whether your child is attending for a few weeks or few hours of the day there is big stress and much preparation to be taken before the big day comes. While preparing your child for preschool questions may come up in your child’s mind. It will be good for them if you tell them it is all right and they will have fun in the new environment they are about to step in. Constant reassurance will do much good to them. Listen to their fears and they will feel relaxed and contented. You can start by teaching him/her some basic manners and etiquette.
You can first schedule a visit to the preschool:
By visiting the preschool you will be able to give your prospective preschooler the idea what a preschool is and how it works, and that everything will be all right even if mommy is not around. If your child is familiar with the surroundings they are bound to feel safe and hence no ruckus will be created by the child when the big day comes.
Give him a picture of preschool before he attends:
Take turns in playing the student and the teacher at the preschool. This way they will be accustomed with the process and they will not be scared on the first day. Preparing your child for Preschool is not as difficult as you might think. So let him feel that he will be safe in the new environment.
Start reading out stories:
Select books that include preschool activities and stories about preschool. The stories should help them in the reading skills and identification skills. It will also make them familiarize with the concept of preschool. Preschool education is important for your child and hence you will take all extra effort which helps the children to do good once they have set foot in preschool.
Teach the fundamental:
Before you send your child for preschool you can teach them some basic things which are in the preschool curriculum and will help them to perform better in preschool. It should be fun learning activities which would benefit the child. Make sure your child knows his/her colors and difference between a circle and a square.
